MMC is focused on nurturing students’ creativity, giving them the ability to find purpose, and adapt and grow throughout their lives. I was excited to work with them on their Impact Report, a publication targeted to donors, alumni, and overall community supporters and potential recruits. After studying their existing brand system and reviewing the overall content for the report, I designed two visual approaches. I was drawn to the creative spaces, curriculum and unique community-focused initiatives. My initial ideas focused on using collage to help build visual stories mixed with vibrant color and type choices. The overwhelming choice was the collage direction. Working with their internal communications team, we created a protocol for designing and assembling the collage and vignette images. It was helpful to build the collages in layered files to allow for ease of editing, refining, and replacing elements when necessary.
