MFA IVC BRAND IDENTITY ASSETS
The Sam Fox School’s new MFA in Illustration & Visual Culture program at Washington University in St. Louis explores the idea of illustration authorship by combining studio practice in illustration with curatorial training in visual and material culture. This program is ideal for illustrators, designers, and those interested in working with popular visual matter of the modern period: how it was made and by whom, who it was for, and how it remains relevant today. I was asked to design the core identity and how it might extend onto a variety of media. I created the system to mimic the techniques associated with traditional printing and mark-making processes while using technology to modernize and adapt the typographic treatments.
