NEURON COVER DESIGN

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with really smart people making a difference in the world of science and medicine, including the good folks at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis Department of Neurology. I’ve collaborated with them on several cover concepts for the Neuron Journal of Neuroscience. For this particular issue, we expanded on their research showing how the brain responds to extremities being cast (i.e. broken right arm) before, during, and after a 60-day period. While we tried to adapt the concept of connect/disconnect to different scenarios: video games, highway traffic, airport congestion, Zoom meetings, etc. in the end depicting the reaction between the brain and arm inside the human form was the most visually compelling approach for us.
