I collaborated with professor, author and illustrator D.B. Dowd on the award-winning publications Spartan Holiday No. 1, 2 & 3. The inaugural 40-page issue chronicles Dowd’s travels to China. Part history, part memoir and part travelogue, SH provides unique reporting you don’t see in traditional media. Each visually rich spread is treated independently, yet the whole weaves a narrative that is personal, provoking and peculiar. Issue No. 2 picks up on his continued travels throughout China and No. 3 the beautiful city of Paris. I really want the viewer to connect to the narrative so I carefully curated pages and spreads by layering colors, textures and typography to help tell the story.
